About the BMW S63 Engine

The BMW S63 is a hand-assembled, high-performance twin-turbocharged V8 produced exclusively by BMW M GmbH at their Motorsport facility in Munich. It is not a modified version of a standard production engine — the S63 is engineered from the ground up as a dedicated M performance unit, featuring a hot-vee turbocharger layout, individual throttle bodies, high-flow cylinder heads, and a forged internal architecture designed to sustain extreme performance over long service intervals.

Across its various iterations — including the S63B44T0, S63B44T2, S63B44T4, and competition variants — the S63 has produced between 555 hp and 627 hp in road-legal form, with higher outputs available in motorsport applications. It is widely regarded as one of the finest naturally-aspirated-inspired forced induction V8 engines in the modern era of performance car engineering.
